Your Acting TeacherRichard Kline

My approach as an acting teacher is from the perspective of a working actor with experience in front of and behind the camera. In between television, movie jobs and theater both on tour and on Broadway, I have been teaching for over 25 years both in Los Angeles and New York City.

Richard has taught at various casting workshops in Los Angeles and most recently at The Actors Connection and NY Castings in New York City. He offers private coaching on Zoom in addition to his in-person classes at his New York City studio.

As a director, Richard won the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for his direction of Noel Coward’s Present Laughter. He has directed Bruce Davison, Burt Reynolds and Billy Connolly in their television series. Other directing credits include Rumors (with Bernie Koppel), Rough Crossing, The Great Sebastians, Breaking Legs, Leader of the Pack (with Sha Na Na), Young Playwrights Festival, and several solo shows. He holds a Masters Degree in Theater from Northwestern University and a BA from Queens College, NY. AEA,SAG-AFTRA,DGA.

Richard Kline is a working actor and teacher. He has been teaching acting since 1998 both in Los Angeles and NYC.

Growing up in New York City, he attended Queens College and holds a Masters in Theatre from Northwestern University. He is known to millions of TV watchers as ‘Larry’ on the classic sitcom Three’s Company, and the only actor to appear in both spin-offs of that series.

Recently he appeared on Broadway as Old Joe in Waitress following a national tour. He was The Wizard in the National Company of Wicked.. At the Papermill Playhouse he was Kid Twist opposite Harry Connick,jr in The Sting. Previous to that he appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's November directed by Joe Mantello.

After serving as a lieutenant in Vietnam, Richard made his professional debut at the prestigious Lincoln Center Repertory Company in 1971. Regional theatre credits include Other Desert Cities, Death of A Salesman, Chemin de Fer, Native Son, Henry V (title role) and Love’s Labor’s Lost. An accomplished singer, Richard has appeared in the musicals They’re Playing Our Song, Do I Hear A Waltz?, The Rothschilds, Hello Again, Titanic, and in his Broadway debut with City of Angels. In the American premiere of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s By Jeeves, he played Jeeves both at the Godspeed Opera and The Kennedy Center.

His many television credits include The Resident, Bluebloods, The Americans, Gilmore Girls, Judging Amy, That 70’s Show, NYPD Blue, Dream On, LA Law, Mary Tyler Moore, Maude and four Love Boats!
